The top Tirolean resort of Ischgl has become one of the first ski resorts to have a fully storyboarded and directed TV advertisement screened in Britain - at the same time as booking one of the UK's favourite bands, The Killers, for the end of season concert on Saturday 30 April.

"Ischgl has become a very cosmopolitan and fashionable resort, with some of the best slopes as well as the best hotels in the Alps, and the stylish TV ad emphasises this image. We hope to welcome many more British holidaymakers to Ischgl," said the resort's Tourist Director Andreas Steibl.

Booking The Killers - an American band that first made their name in the UK - for the legendary Top of the Mountain concert is a great coup for the resort, which boasts an illustrious list of past superstar acts, including Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry and Rihanna.

This season's opening concert was performed by Beth Ditto and her Indie rock band Gossip at the end of November 2010 to an enthusiastic crowd of 20,000.

The Top of the Mountain concert at Idalp, near the top station of the main Silvretta gondola out of Ischgl, comes in the middle of the UK's 'Bonus Bank Holiday Weekend' and is a great excuse for skiers to have a late escape to the mountains. The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is on Friday 29 April, now a Bank Holiday, as is Monday 2 May. So skiers and boarders can book a long weekend in Ischgl without having to take time off work.

Prices for four nights' bed and breakfast in a hotel with a three day liftpass are available from euro 330 per person. Entry to the concert is free with a valid liftpass. Check paznaun-ischgl.com for accommodation availability. The final day of Ischgl's ski season is Sunday 1 May.

The 30-second ad, which cost a six-figure sum to make, is being shown on TV stations including Sky News, Sky Sports News, MTV, Discovery Travel and Living, E4 and Eurosport during a three-week campaign.

"Showing this movie-quality ad on British TV is an exciting step for us and demonstrates our commitment to the UK ski market," said Mr Steibl. "Skiers and boarders from the UK are highly valued by Ischgl and the numbers coming to our resort have been steadily increasing. They are obviously very impressed by what they see, too, because we are experiencing an increasingly high level of repeat bookings."
