Moving into her first home was the icing on top of the cake for nurse Siobhan Harvey, as she got the keys to her new property at Taylor Wimpey’s Acres Edge development in Helston on her birthday, thanks to the company’s Local Homes for Local People discount scheme.

The incentive is open to all house hunters who have grown up in the area or have close connections to Helston either through family or work, and have a household income of less than £60,000. It’s already proving to be a great success as recent home owners such as Siobhan can testify.

Siobhan was eligible for Taylor Wimpey’s acclaimed discount scheme as she has grown up in Helston and worked in the Cornwall area all her life. She purchased a beautiful two bedroom Buckthorn house type.

She comments: “It was the quality of Taylor Wimpey’s properties which really impressed me and I really liked the location of the Acres Edge development. It’s within walking distance to the town centre which is really convenient, yet near the coast too, so it’s a lovely place to live. Plus to move in on my birthday was really special, it certainly made my day.

“I definitely couldn’t have bought without the help of the Local Homes for Local People discount. It opens up new hope for people who are struggling to get a deposit together. Due to the discount I only had to pay a fraction of what a normal deposit would have been.”

At Acres Edge, which comprises a fine selection of two bedroom coach houses, three and four bedroom house types, Taylor Wimpey is offering local people a 25 per cent discount on a wide selection of the properties available. Prices through the scheme therefore start from as little as £119,995 for a Buckthorn house type.

Siobhan continues: “This is such a cost effective option and I’d definitely recommend it to other people in the area who are keen to get onto the property ladder. Plus everyone at Taylor Wimpey has been really supportive, both with my move and they’re even sponsoring my charity trek in Borneo which I’m doing for Bowel Cancer Awareness.”

Janine Davey, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Exeter, adds: “Our Local Homes for Local People incentive has been very well received by a number of Helston house hunters like Siobhan as it represents a great opportunity for those on a household income of less than £60,000 to comfortably afford home ownership.”

Acres Edge is set in a popular residential area of Helston and enjoys an envious location close to the golden beaches of Cornwall and the cathedral city of Truro.
