The prestigious La Manga Club is celebrating its 40th birthday this year and, to mark the landmark anniversary, the Spanish resort has launched a fantastic two-for-one promotion aimed at anyone in their forties.

The award-winning five-star venue has unveiled a series of attractive discounts on sports and leisure activities which are available exclusively to people aged between 40 and 49 in 2012.

Guests booking in April and May can enjoy free rounds of golf on La Manga Club's three 18-hole championship courses, complimentary tennis lessons and spa treatments and half-price evening meals including drinks when eating at the resort's wide selection of restaurants.

That means a typical three-night stay for two people in the resort's luxurious hotel including two rounds of golf, one tennis lesson, a spa treatment and dinner each night costs from just €390 per person.

Prices are based on two people sharing a room and doing the same activity at the same time on bookings made until the end of March.

La Manga Club has established itself as one of the leading sports and leisure destinations in Europe since opening in 1972 and is planning a series of events throughout the summer to commemorate its anniversary, culminating in a special birthday weekend for invited guests at the end of August.

Set in an area three times the size of Monaco, the resort is renowned for its first-class range of facilities and has played host to some of the leading names in sport and leisure over the years.

Golfing greats including Arnold Palmer and Bernard Gallacher - who both won the Spanish Open at the five-star resort - have graced La Manga Club's fairways since it opened.

The late Seve Ballesteros made his European Tour debut at the venue before becoming its touring pro, South African legend Gary Player was the resort's director of golf while former world number one Luke Donald honed his swing at La Manga Club as a child.

La Manga Club welcomed the Ladies' European Tour Q School for the fourth consecutive year in January and it could soon be playing host to the cream of lady golfers as it is a leading contender to host the 2015 Solheim Cup.

In addition, as well as offering a wide selection of sports academies to children, the resort will be hosting the Lee Westwood Golf Academy, AC Milan Junior Camp and Daley Thompson Athletics Academy this summer where budding sports stars of the future can improve their skills.

La Manga Club boasts unrivalled facilities as a sport and leisure venue including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses, more than 20 bars and restaurants and great fun for children.
