Glasgow East MP Margaret Curran officially opened the recently upgraded £2m Boghall Road at Calderpark, completed by award-winning housebuilder Bellway Homes and providing a new access route to the company’s Calderpark development, Glasgow.

The Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, Margaret Curran MP performed the ceremony by cutting a ribbon to open the road that leads to Bellway’s The Avenues development, which is situated close to the former site of Glasgow zoo on the south east edge of the city.

Margaret Curran MP said: “The positive impact the construction of new homes and also investment in improving existing infrastructures can bring to an area is considerable. I congratulate Bellway Homes for the substantial upgrade to Boghall Road, which provides even greater access to and from this part of the city for the local community.”

As one of the UK’s top four house builders, Bellway Homes is committed to regeneration projects, with currently more than 80% of the company’s housing developments being built on Brownfield sites. Bellway’s efforts also extend to transforming areas into highly accessible locations and flourishing new neighbourhoods by putting in place, where possible, new infrastructures such as road upgrades, children’s play areas or creating walk ways and cycle paths.

Andy Wyles, Managing Director at Bellway Homes said, “The upgrade of Boghall Road follows on from the recent completion of a new road at our development in Airdrie only last month. At Bellway Homes, we view every project on an individual basis because we don’t see our job as just building quality housing. We consider all the elements that make a location a desirable place to live from good road and transport links to the proximity of social amenities and schooling.

“I want to thank Margaret Curran MP for taking the time to open the road today. This represents another important phase not just for Bellway Homes at The Avenues, but the further improvements and investment taking place in this part of the city overall, such as the M74 link road, which now makes Calderpark and neighbouring Uddingston and Baillieston highly accessible for travel to Glasgow and beyond.”

Featuring a selection of three, four and five-bedroom detached homes, with a starting price of £187,500, The Avenues remains a popular development, particularly among prospective family buyers in search of a home where they want to settle for the long-term.

Each home offers a stylish and spacious interior, complete with a range of key features from en-suite master bedrooms to large dining kitchens, bay windowed lounges and double garages.

With easy access to Glasgow city centre, which is just seven miles away, and with Uddingston, Baillieston and the conservation village of Bothwell close by as well as the extensive retail outlet Glasgow Fort and links to the nearby M73, M74 and M8, The Avenues is one of the best positioned new developments on this side of the city.

Further adding to the appeal of The Avenues is that Bellway Homes provides a choice of buying options to support purchasers, whatever their circumstances, including ‘Express Mover’ and also ‘Part Exchange’.
