ITV has unveiled its brand new digital news offering which is being rolled out in beta this week.

The new 24 hour news site, which is optimised for use on mobiles and tablets, is packed with broadcast quality video and aims to bring real-time rolling news to the public in a brand new slick and efficient digital product.

Putting digital at the heart of ITV's news operation, the site will draw on ITV’s award-winning national and regional news gathering operation, offering journalists from across ITV’s extensive network of UK newsrooms, the tools they need to quickly and efficiently break news and update stories online from wherever they are based.

As part of the wider transformation of ITV News, the new site has been created in partnership with digital innovation and service design experts Made by Many and incorporates a rolling news timeline. The site draws not only from content created by ITV News journalists, but also reflects the conversations that happen around breaking news on other sites and platforms such as Twitter.

Michael Jermey, Director of News and Current Affairs said: “Our digital news service will give people a great new way to follow breaking news wherever they are. It will offer fantastic broadcast quality video and will cover not only the top national and international news of the day but will also provide a strong regional service.”

Julian March, Head of Digital Media, ITV News & Sport, said: “ITV News is a vast 24 hour news gathering machine packed with breaking news content and exclusives from award winning journalists. We are therefore incredibly excited about creating a platform which allows us to begin to unleash the full power of that machine in the digital space. The new site is all about providing real-time news for the digital age and enabling our quality journalism to reach an even wider audience online and on demand.”
