Specialist travel insurance company promises better deal for older travellers

26th March 2012 Print

No upper age limit on both single-trip and annual multi-trip travel insurance and cover for severe medical conditions where other insurers may decline cover are just two of the eye-catching features on offer from Britain’s newest travel insurance provider.

OK To Travel specialises in competitively-priced insurance for people with pre-existing medical conditions and also for older travellers. This cover is tailored to suit the millions of Brits over the age of 55 who make nearly 14 million visits abroad each year – of these nearly 5.3 million trips were made by the over-65s.

“No other travel insurer can match the full range we offer travellers with pre-existing medical conditions, from the young to the very old,” says Iain Sykes, Development Director at OK To Travel.

“We are the first company to offer no upper age limit on annual multi-trip policies at such a high level of medical severity, which is great news for people over 65 who travel abroad two or three times a year and currently have great difficulty in getting multi-trip cover anywhere else.”

OK To Travel is committed to providing competitive rates for people with pre-existing medical conditions who may be struggling to buy cover elsewhere.

It pledges to cover all types of medical conditions to a high level of severity, even those that many other insurers would refuse to quote on, while many conditions are covered at no extra cost.

“We can often offer cover to someone who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and those who may, for example, be receiving chemotherapy treatment,” said Iain.

“What’s more, most mainstream insurers have a blanket exclusion on mental health conditions but we are determined that these travellers are not excluded from enjoying the sort of cover available to everyone else. Conditions covered range from mild depression through to bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.

“We offer a choice of cover limits to suit all budgets and three medical excess levels, while customers will find our quick-to-quote online process easy to use. It includes a medical screening facility which is simple to follow and a telephone helpline is available to assist people who prefer to obtain a quote on the phone.

“Our research shows that there is a large gap in the market for a company which can offer a wide choice of travel insurance options at competitive prices to the millions of people living in Britain who have pre-existing medical conditions, whatever their age may be,” adds Iain.
