New homes now even more sought thanks to road link

A new homes development in the South West of Carlisle is set to be even more popular now the final section of the Western Bypass is open, developer Lovell believes.

Lovell is building a stylish collection of family homes at The Elms, just off the A595 Wigton Road. Residents at the venture can now benefit from easier access to the M6 as the last leg of the new Carlisle Northern Development Route opened this month, completing the link between the A595 at Newby West with the M6.

Elaine Taylor, regional sales manager for Lovell, said: “The new bypass means people living at The Elms who need to travel to the motorway can now avoid driving through the city centre, which will hopefully make their commute easier. If they work in the city, their journey should also be more straightforward as some of the motorway bound traffic is diverted.

“Homes at The Elms have been selling well and the location already enjoys many standout benefits but we believe that this new road will make the development even more attractive to buyers.”

Ideally located in the heart of an established residential area, The Elms has the benefit of nearby main road access to historic Carlisle, but all of the facilities a family could want nearby. In addition to the local Heysham Park, residents aren’t far from the city’s Bitts Park.

Belle View, Yewdale and Newlaithes primary schools and St. Bede's Catholic and Newtown Community junior schools are all about half a mile away, while the Richard Rose Morton Academy is the nearest secondary school.

Leisure activities in the locality include the children’s activity centre The Magic Castle, the Cumbria Indoor Bowls Club and a range of restaurants to suit all tastes.

There is a stylish show home open at The Elms to given would-be homeowners a glimpse of the lifestyle they could look forward to.

Three and four-bedroom homes, including some with garages, means there is a property to suit most buyers. A new phase is due to launch soon, which will feature some two-bedroom homes.

Availability of the FirstBuy scheme makes the development more affordable for first time buyers. They will receive a loan for 20% of the purchase price, jointly funded by Lovell and the Government, so they may only need up to a 5% deposit and apply for an 80% mortgage. However, they will still own 100% of their new home from day one. FirstBuy is available to first time buyers or people wanting to return to home ownership, provided their household earnings are less that £60,000 a year.

Prices start at just £99,996 with FirstBuy for a three-bedroom house (full price £124,995). Four-bedroom homes are priced from £152,995.
