Silverstone Auctions has been asked by TV and radio presenter and famous car nut, Chris Evans, to hold two special auctions in aid of Children in Need at his inaugural CarFest over the August Bank Holiday weekend (25th and 26th August).

The auctions are set to bring a new level of entertainment and participation to classic car sales in the UK with the introduction of a host of new and innovative features designed to maximise the enjoyment and involvement levels for buyers and sellers alike, while helping to boost sale rates and car values.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “We are very proud to be associated with CarFest as it promises to be a one of the most talked about family events of the year, while also raising significant sums for a very worthy cause.

“The auctions themselves are going to be full of State-side razzmatazz, including themed sales, grid slots, cars being driven up on a specially constructed stage, along with vendors being interviewed during the sale by our celebrity assistants.”

Saturday will see the ‘Pride and Joy’ auction, dedicated to the classic car enthusiast. Cars will be split into three price ‘Grids’, ranging from £5,000 to £25,000, with 50 cars in each ‘Grid’ category. Anyone wishing to enter their vehicle into the sale must have owned it for at least three years.

This auction will be an American style Drive-Thru sale providing buckets of theatre, excitement and entertainment conducted on a large raised stage onto which the owners will drive their ‘Pride & Joy’ for presentation by a celebrity to the bidders.

Meanwhile, the ‘Sunday Best’ auction is a more traditional affair and is limited to 100 entries, all of which are estimated at more than £25,000. This auction will still be full of entertainment and buyers will once again be able to see the cars being driven onto the raised stage. Trade entries are welcomed in the ‘Sunday Best’ auction.

CarFest takes place at Laverstock Park Farm in Hampshire, a fitting venue as it is owned by 1979 Formula 1 World Champion Jody Scheckter. It is already building up to be one of 2012’s most talked about events because in addition to two auctions there will be live music from bands including Texas, Ocean Colour Scene and Razorlight, a hillclimb sprint, camping, a gourmet food festival, plus many other family orientated attractions.

Perhaps most importantly, CarFest is raising money for Children in Need and this will include Silverstone Auctions donating 50 per cent of its profits from the two auctions.

Nick added: “We’re delighted to support Chris Evans and his efforts in raising important funds for Children in Need. There’s going to be some amazing vehicles up for sale and I’m confident that our new format will help add significant funds. It’s certainly going to be an event that is talked about for a long time afterwards and we’re proud to be playng an integral part.”
