Amieira Marina offers ‘taster’ houseboat experiences

2nd April 2012 Print

In a corner of Portugal’s stunning Alentejo region awaits the Amieira Marina, a houseboat holiday company offering visitors the chance to explore Europe’s largest manmade lake aboard their own private houseboat. In order for visitors to get a real taste of houseboat holidays at Amieira Marina and what it offers as a holiday destination, the marina is organising a free Open Day on 14th and 15th April 2012 to showcase the marina’s fleet of houseboats and activities on offer on and around the lake.

Visitors will have a chance to experience sailing one of the marina’s houseboats with training provided beforehand. The houseboats sleep two to 12 people guests and are fully equipped with a bathroom, kitchen, living area, bedrooms, sun deck and barbecue as well as safety equipment and navigation technology including GPS and sonar.

Activities on the lake include swimming, kayaking and canoeing, fishing and cycling as well as a range of specialised activities such as wine tasting, horse riding, quad biking and astronomy tours. The Open Day will allow visitors to trial some of the activities available at the Amieira Marina and a reservation is required in advance to participate in the Open Day.

Amieira Marina offers a family holiday with a twist with visitors free to create their own itinerary. Family packages during the Easter Holidays to the Amieira Marina start from €1,115 (£932*) for a three-night weekend break on the Quattro vessel which sleeps up to four people.
