Ben Bailey Homes’ hugely popular Gin Pit Village development in Tyldesley has been named Best Housing Development by a large developer in Wigan Council’s prestigious Building Excellence Awards.

Covering the whole of the borough, the Building Excellence Awards demonstrate Wigan Council's recognition of high standards of building work across the region. The accolades are awarded to a variety of building projects from small domestic works to major commercial developments, which achieve high standards of construction, workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Judging criteria for the awards is based on a project’s compliance with building regulations, the speed of fault rectifications, storage of materials, site safety and consistency in the construction of the project.

Gin Pit Village is set in the picturesque suburb of Astley near Tyldesley and boasts an exclusive collection of two-bedroom apartments and three- and four-bedroom homes, with prices starting at £179,950.

Ben Bailey Homes’ site manager at Gin Pit Village, Martin Sharkey, said: “We are delighted that Gin Pit Village has been recognised by Wigan Council as the Best Housing Development by a large developer at the 2012 Building Excellence Awards.

“The award is testament to the standard and attention to detail of every Ben Bailey Homes property. We have a fantastic team of employees working at Gin Pit Village and having the development recognised independently is a fitting reward for the professionalism and effort of everyone involved.”

Gin Pit Village is located in Astley, a thriving community that offers a wide range of shops and pubs, Nearby Tyldesley boasts a busy town centre full of high street names and small businesses. Gin Pit Village is also situated near the A580 and M60, providing easy access to the nearby Wigan and Manchester.

Councillor David Molyneux, Wigan Council’s deputy leader, said: “I am pleased that we have a healthy mix of eye catching, large and small scale projects, boroughwide this year. It proves that good design clearly has economic benefits and does not need to cost the earth, which is essential in these difficult times.

“We hope that by celebrating the winning schemes it will lay down the challenge for builders and designers to build even better schemes in the future.”

The marketing suite and showhome at Gin Pit Village is open seven days a week from 10.30am until 5pm. For further information on the development, visit ben-baileyhomes.com.
