21st May 2012 Print

British tennis aces Andy Murray, Elena Baltacha, Colin Fleming and Ross Hutchins have all used La Manga Club on their road to stardom and the Spanish resort will be hoping to unearth some new stars of the future at a new tournament taking place this summer.

The inaugural La Manga Club Cup, a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Grade Three event, is being held from July 3-7 on the famous clay courts at the five-star resort's fabulous 28-court tennis centre.

Categories include singles competitions for boys and girls from the ages of 10 to 18, men's and ladies' events and doubles competitions for the U12s and U16s.

There will also be a pre-tournament training camp from June 30 to July 2 and, as well as LTA ranking points, competitors can win prizes including a free weekend break at La Manga Club and Babolat merchandise.

Entry costs £15 per person for junior singles events and £20 for senior competitions, while participants can take advantage of a number of attractive discounts when staying at the award-winning resort.

A family of four can book a two-bedroom apartment in La Manga Club's Las Lomas Village for 200 euros per night while two people can enjoy a night in the resort's Hotel La Manga Club Principe Felipe for 180 euros.

In addition, visitors staying on a four-day package will receive one night free and people booking for seven nights will get two complimentary nights, while competitors staying in Las Lomas or the hotel will also receive free access to the spa, €100 of resort credit and free transportation within the resort.

Murray, Baltacha, Fleming and Hutchins and former British number one Tim Henman have all used La Manga Club as a warm weather training base, and Baltacha returned there in March to put the finishing touches to her preparations for this month's French Open.

The venue is one of Europe's leading tennis destinations with 28 courts providing a variety of surfaces on which to play. It has previously been the venue for various high-profile competitions, including Davis Cup and Fed Cup matches.

Tennis lovers can enjoy the same professional facilities as the game's stars and improve their game in the sun thanks to La Manga Club's Best Tennis & More package.

The venue is offering fantastic breaks for all of 2012 with accommodation and daily tuition from the popular tennis academy's expert coaches available from just €76 per person.

As well as tennis, the price includes accommodation in the fully serviced, four-star Las Lomas Village apartments, a daily tennis lesson, breakfast and access to Spa La Manga Club's fitness centre, indoor pool, saunas and steam rooms.

Players seeking a little bit of extra comfort can stay in the luxury resort's fabulous Principe Felipe Hotel and enjoy the same privileges on a four-night package from only €118 per person per night.

La Manga Club boasts unrivalled facilities as a sport and leisure venue including three championship golf courses and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses, more than 20 bars and restaurants and great fun for families.
