Mercure celebrates English Wine

This summer, Mercure is raising a toast to the country’s locally produced wines by showcasing a selection of English wines on its Les Grands Vins and Discovery Wine menus, so guests can enjoy English produced tipples throughout the season.

The featured wines include, Nyetimber’s Classic Cuvée, delicately effervescent and pale gold in colour, this dry sparkling wine is made from grapes grown on vines in West Sussex and pairs perfectly with summery salads and seafood.

For those who love their wine with blush, there is a sparkling rosé from Jenkyn Place, Hampshire – with a pale hue and pleasing dry palate, this rosé makes an indulgent accompaniment to afternoon tea. Alternatively, the Bolney Wine Estate rosé from West Sussex goes perfectly with that Wimbledon favourite, strawberries and cream.
The Mercure Les Grands Vins menu is an extensive wine list of high quality regional and international wines, sold by the glass as well as the bottle to make the discovery and enjoyment of the best wines even more accessible to guests.

Each of the wines available are selected by experts including Mercure’s own Echansons. The Mercure Echansons are wine specialists – knowledgeable about everything from winemaking processes, to wine regions to the all-important tasting - and are on hand to guide guests and offer advice on their English wine selection.

Every year in more than 10 countries, a number of tasting panels are set up to make blind tests and select the wines that will be incorporated into the list of Les Grands Vins for the following year. The taste panels include enthusiasts and professionals who like sharing their passion for wine, including the outstanding Mercure Echansons.
