Along the valley of the River Meuse, through the Ardennes and around the lakes of the Der and the Orient Forest, passing through the Marne valley, a network of 280 miles of cycle tracks across Champagne-Ardenne offers endless possibilities for exploring the region by bike.

New Cycling Map and itineraries

New for this year, is a practical and easy-to-use cycling map in English and German. This handy pocket guide contains lots of useful information and suggestions for exploring the region with designated routes, specially suggested itineraries and useful bike-friendly accommodation details. Some of the routes use dedicated cycling tracks, known as 'greenways' locally (voie vertes), where no motorized traffic is allowed, and some also use country roads that have little traffic.

Comprensive: the map shows all the cycling routes and greenways of the whole region from Givet in the northern Ardennes to Langres in the south of the region.   Detailed routes are easy to follow for planning your journey.

Practical: the Pocket guide format offers useful addresses & contact numbers, including bike rental locations and other useful services for cyclists.

Accessible: available in English and free on request from the regional tourist board or tourist information offices in the region.

Cycling for all

The ever-growing network of cycling routes and greenways offers new and improved ways of discovering the varied landscapes of the region.   Routes are accessible to all levels and abilities and are divided into 4 themed areas:

Short cycle rides for families or groups of friends on sign-posted cycle tracks

Longer circuits, taking up to a day, using both cycle tracks and quiet roads

Long distance cycling routes for crossing the whole region, linking to other regions of France and other countries

Dedicated areas for 'off road' mountain biking

Quality Charter

Established in 2009, the two labels "La Champagne à vélo"  and " Les Ardennes à vélo "  guarantee a warm welcome from cycle rental outlets and accommodation providers (hotels, gites, B&Bs and campsites). Practical services for cyclists are also available such as bike storage, repair kits,  picnic lunches etc. ensuring cyclists with all they need to enjoy their stay.

More information on the routes and dowloadable brochures are available on the regional website:
