Celebrity Wedding Planner returns to Channel 5

25th July 2012 Print

Following a hugely successful first series earlier this year, Channel 5 has announced the return of Celebrity Wedding Planner which will air during the wedding season in August. Celebrity Wedding Planner is co-produced by Renegade Pictures and GroupM Entertainment.

Taking on the role of the wedding planners this series include Loose Woman Denise Welch with Astrologer to the stars and Strictly Come Dancing legend Russell Grant, Neighbours’ Ryan Moloney (Jarrod "Toadie" Rebecchi) and Mark Little (Joe Mangel), and Pineapple Dance Studios’ Louie Spence paired with Benidorm’s barman Jake Canuso.

Armed with a budget of £12,000 and just 21 days, our celebrity duos will plan the weddings of ordinary couples, organising every precious detail including the venue, the flowers and the all-important dress. There’s one huge catch…the brave couple will hand over total control of the most important day of their lives to the celebrities without knowing their identity. The famous faces won’t be revealed to the bride and groom until it’s too late to back out!

Will the big day end in tears of joy or tears of despair? Will the first dance be the last dance?

Greg Barnett, Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, Daytime & Soaps comments: “I’m delighted the first series of Celebrity Wedding Planner proved so popular with our viewers. In this second series we’ve paired celebrities together so viewers and prospective brides and grooms can look forward to double the trouble.”

Maureen Goldthorpe, Executive Producer at Renegade Pictures comments: “This series of highly entertaining showbiz stars, and their encounters with ordinary brides and grooms, make for laughter, tears and tantrums, all the way…”

Tony Moulsdale, Head of Programming for GroupM Entertainment comments: "After the success of the first series we're delighted to be continuing a great partnership with Renegade".

Celebrity Wedding Planner is set to air in August on Channel 5 (3x60 minutes). Series one averaged at one million viewers with a 5.1 per cent audience share rising to an impressive 8.4 per cent amongst young people.
