Passport2Health launches new health insurance plan

2nd August 2012 Print

With consumer finances continuing to feel the squeeze and private medical insurance premiums on the rise, Passport2Health has launched a new health insurance plan, helping people to access the best private medical care facilities in Europe for up to 50% less than traditional private health insurance products.

With over 60,000 Brits already seeking medical treatment abroad each year, Passport2Health is the first insurance plan of its kind. It combines private UK diagnostics with door to door concierge travel, accommodation and treatment in European hospitals and beyond, offering a solution for people looking for affordable private medical care. Hip and knee replacements, laser eye surgery and cataract removal are the most common reasons why people are currently travelling abroad for elective medical treatment.

Details of the Passport2Health insurance plan:

After consultation with your GP, you will be referred to a private UK specialist (unlike other private health insurance plans, we don’t put any restriction on which specialist you are going to see)

All private care and diagnostics in the UK, including MRI, CET and PET scans are included, up to £1,300 per year, per policy

Passport2Health cover all the same acute elective surgical procedures as many other UK PMI scheme, including common surgical procedures in specialisms such as orthopaedics, ENT, cardiology, ophthalmology, urology and gynaecology

Passport2Health give you full choice from an international network of high quality, multi-speciality private hospitals. Passport2Health offer treatment in destinations such as Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, as well as other cities, across Europe and beyond

Passport2Health take you through the whole claims process, offering a full ‘hand-holding’ concierge service, arranging all travel and accommodation for you and your companion. They offer alternative travel arrangements based on medical advice or for patients who prefer not to fly.

Passport2Health partner hospitals are selected based on stringent quality criteria and only choose hospitals that are familiar with treating English speaking patients.

Full integration into the domestic health arena on return to the UK – upon your return to the UK, Passport2Health work with your GP and their private partners to provide you with any necessary aftercare and rehabilitation.

Premiums start from as little as £9/ month for a 20-year old and £19/ month for a 30-year old and we cover people up to the age of 79

Frank Levene, CEO and founder of Passport2Health, comments: “Private health cover has long been something that is viewed as a privilege of the wealthy, leaving a huge proportion of the population priced out of the market. We have seen premiums for private health insurance rise over recent years, leading to a decline in people taking out cover. Coupled with the NHS cutting budgets for treatments, we are seeing 60,000 people a year travelling abroad, looking for medical treatment.

“Until now, people looking outside UK destinations for treatment, have had to put together their own travel arrangements, organize their stay and pay a large part if not all of the costs involved. Our product has been designed to offer an affordable solution for ordinary people looking for high quality medical care, with all arrangement taken care of. The UK private health insurance market has been lacking innovation for years now and we believe we have what it takes to shake things up and provide a solution for those looking for quality medical treatment at affordable prices.”
