The cycling effect - a boost for HF Holidays

8th August 2012 Print

According to HF Holidays the recent success of our cycling heroes has triggered a boost in its European cycling holidays with options including guided tours, self-guided tours, family cycling, ‘Bike & Boat’ and ‘Relax & Cycle’ combinations.

As an example of the guided itineraries available, the company’s eight-day Waterways towards Venice ‘bike and boat’ guided holiday combines daily cycling - following the flat terrain of the River Po from Mantova to Venice – with accommodation aboard the Vita Pugna standard barge or the completely refurbished luxury vessel, Ave Maria.

Other highlights include the castle, cathedral and ancient city walls at Ferrara, Chioggia (Little Venice) with its narrow streets and network of canals, the ancient harbour of Malamocco together with the abundant bird life of the marshes and lagoons of the Po Delta.

Available with weekly departures between now and 27 October, the cost is from £715 per person inclusive of seven nights’ full board accommodation in an en-suite twin bed cabin, cycle hire, information pack and the assistance of a tour leader.

Or for a self-guided option, Around Lake Constance follows excellent cycle paths offering superb lake and mountain views with highlights including the picturesque town of Stein am Rhein – with its medieval centre and ancient frescoed houses – Europe’s biggest waterfall, the Rheinfall, the island of Reichenau with its ancient abbey, the island of Mainau and the cobbled town of Meersburg.

Available until mid-October, the twin-share cost is from £569 per person inclusive of seven nights’ bed and breakfast accommodation in three and four star hotels, cycle hire, entrance to Mainau island, luggage transfers, plus route descriptions and maps.  An upgrade to half-board is available at £110 per person.

Travel to the destination is extra.
