Peppa Pig or Just Pigs? Have both for half term in the New Forest

16th August 2012 Print

Give the family a New Forest holiday for half term and visit the one and only Peppa Pig World, see pigs roaming free and get fit all in one week! Shorefield Holidays offers a variety of great locations in and around the New Forest for half term (October 19 to November 1). A week at either Oakdene Forest Park or Shorefield Country Park is priced from just £225 for a family of four in a 4-berth Wimborne Caravan or Danestream Chalet respectively.

Oakdene Forest Park is a great base for families with its fab Go Active itinerary offering weekly programme of activity sessions ranging from fencing or dance classes to body zorbing or sea scooters & snorkelling. The Go Active concept, developed in conjunction with Hoseasons and only available in 14 locations around the UK, operates a simple pay-as-you-go system with prices starting from £2 for a session. Oakdene also puts on an optional entertainment schedule for guests including a kids club, Cyril and Cybil the Squirrels - a favourite with younger children, evening cabaret, quizzes and games. The Colour Café and Blues Bar provide an alternative to self-catering.

Facilties at Oakdene include a heated indoor pool with flume, toddlers’ pools, fully-equipped gym, sauna, steam room and spa, table tennis, pool, crazy golf and much more. Nearby attractions include Paultons Park with Peppa Pig World. Liquid Logistics’ canoeing and kayaking courses are great for teenagers and the whole family will enjoy Beaulieu’s motor museum with its cars and wartime spy history.

Set in 55 acres of landscaped gardens, Oakdene Forest Park is in Ringwood on the edge of the New Forest so be sure to take a day exploring Britain’s oldest National Park. October is a great time to see ponies, donkeys and cattle. It is also the month when ‘commoners’ turn out their pigs to run free in the Forest - exercising the ancient Right of Pannage - to eat the fallen acorns that would otherwise poison the much-loved New Forest ponies.

Shorefield Country Park, larger than Oakdene, is set in 100 acres of park and woodland on the other side of the New Forest in Milford on Sea. Facilities and accommodation are equally extensive and the coast is just a ten minutes’ walk.

Prices quoted include VAT and are subject to availability. For more information, visit shorefield.co.uk.
