Ischgl breaks new ground with Festival Opening week
The ground-breaking, luxury ski resort of Ischgl in the Austrian Tirol will blast the new ski season into action with a week-long feast of world-class entertainment culminating in a concert featuring cult rock band The Scorpions.
Festival Opening week starts on Friday 23 November and will lead up to the biggest concert of the week on Saturday 1 December, starring The Scorpions and expecting to draw a crowd of 20,000.
Not only does Ischgl boast a snow-guarantee, but this new week-long celebration marks the progression of Ischgl as aleader in ski resort entertainment.
The village was the first alpine ski resort to feature big name rock concerts almost 20 years ago and has becomelegendary for the stars whohave performed at the beginning and end of every season.
Elton John, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Rihanna and Mariah Carey have alltaken to the Top Of The Mountain stage in Ischgl.Said Tourist Director Andreas Steibl: "Ischgl is the largest skiing regionin the Eastern Alps, with 238 kms of groomed runs.
