Well House

Built in 1863 Golden Hill Fort's imposing fortified structure rises sixty meters above the North West coast of the Isle of Wight  Hidden by a moat that rises to its outer walls, this secret fort can now be booked for breaks with Blue Chip Holidays. Sitting proud on its Eastern edge is The Well House, a luxurious five star gold property for eight, characterised by impressive brick barrel ceilings, a one off illuminated, glass covered well, large airy rooms and beautifully landscaped rooftop gardens that are the only ones of their kind within a Grade I listed building in the country.

Developed with sensitivity to the historic and architectural significance of the fort, The Well House retains many original features. Barrel vault ceilings in both the lounge and kitchen have been retained and ambient coloured mood lighting has been installed to pick out the dramatic shape and form of the large arched ceilings.

With views over both the inner courtyard and fountain, and the surrounding parkland, the living and dining areas provide a perfect place to sit and relax day or night.

Three leather sofas provide seating for eight, while a 46" wall-mounted plasma TV with Freeview and ipod docking station, provide entertainment for guests. Its large dining table has ample seating for eight and overlooks the inner courtyard and fountain.

The Well House's large and well equipped kitchen leads off from the main living area. As well as two built-in electric ovens, an electric hob, an integrated full height fridge and freezer, dishwasher, convection microwave and built-in Neff coffee machine, the kitchen has a full range of utensils and accessories including a kettle and toaster. It also comes with its own breakfast bar, three stools and a breakfast table.

Situated on the ground floor are the four en-suite bedrooms, each with wet rooms. The well lit and spacious master bedroom is furnished with a super king-size bed, two bedside cabinets with lamps, a fitted double wardrobe and chest of drawers.  Entertainment is provided by a 32" flatscreen TV with Freeview. Its en-suite wet room comprises a bath with separate walk in shower, wc, wash basin and the dramatic glass top illuminated well that plunges 38 meters beneath.

The spacious second bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed, two bedside cabinets and lamps, a fitted double wardrobe and chest of drawers. Its en-suite comprises a shower, wc and wash basin. Bedrooms three and four are both well proportioned and furnished with twin beds.  Both have bedside cabinets with lamps and chest of drawers and their en-suites each comprise a shower, wc and wash basin.

Outside, The Wells House has its own private balcony furnished with a table and seating for four, which overlooks the pretty courtyard and striking water fountain. The property also has access, via an impressive spiral staircase, to the stunning landscaped communal rooftop gardens, which come with seating, a barbecue area and dramatic 360 degree views.  Within a short drive are Colwell Bay, Freshwater and the popular harbour town of Yarmouth.
