Leading scheduled leisure airline, Monarch, celebrated its inaugural flight to the winter sun destination of Lanzarote on 29 October and Tenerife on 30 October from its newest base, East Midlands.

Expanding on its network of scheduled destinations from East Midlands, which started in August of this year, the new routes to Lanzarote and Tenerife offer customers the opportunity to grab some winter sun with flights operating twice a week.

Commenting on the new flights for Winter 2012/3, Managing Director of Monarch Airlines, Kevin George said, “We are delighted to be expanding our winter 2012/13 flights programme from East Midlands Airport, our newest base, providing our customers in the Midlands with even more flexibility and choice. The launch of the Canary Islands flights, already a popular route from other airports, is a great opportunity for those who wish to escape the UK’s cold winters.

“The rapid expansion of our network from East Midlands Airport is testament to our commitment to provide choice, value and superior customer service to more and more customers in the Midlands.”

Ken O’Toole, Chief Commercial Officer, M.A.G. owners of East Midlands Airport, commented, “It's great to see Monarch’s expansion plans from East Midlands Airport continuing with these new routes commencing for winter 2012/13.

Since Monarch opened its new base at the airport this summer, the airline's operation is going from strength to strength and fast becoming a popular choice for customers."
