TWL goes back to the future with new Mercedes-Benz Vito fleet

When telephone systems supplier TWL Voice & Data stood down its fleet of Mercedes-Benz Vito vans, it only took one call to dial up the perfect replacement.

The Cardiff-based company returned to its previous supplier, close neighbour Euro Commercials, with another order for five new Long-bodied models.

One of the new arrivals is a Vito 116CDI Sport, with 163 hp engine and extra styling touches such as alloy wheels and chrome grille and sidebar, while a 136 hp Vito 113CDI Dualiner has a second row of seats, allowing it to carry five people. The remaining three are Vito 113CDI panel vans.

All five are the subject of a highly flexible Agility funding package from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services. This offers all the benefits of conventional hire purchase with a Guaranteed Future Value (GFV) – including low monthly repayments – but gives operators extra options at the end of the term.

Key to the Agility concept is the agreement of a GFV for the vehicle. At the end of the agreement the customer can choose whether to pay off the final lump sum and keep the vehicle, use the vehicle as a part exchange for a brand new one, or return it free of any further obligations, apart from an excess mileage charge if the initially agreed limit has been exceeded, and damage charges over and above fair wear and tear.

TWL Marketing Manager Andrew Hirst said: “Our previous Vito models were superbly reliable, while the Agility package combined the flexibility we wanted with competitive rates. Euro Commercials have also looked after us very well, their out-of-hours servicing facility being particularly useful, so we had no hesitation in sticking with Mercedes-Benz.”

He continued: “Our new vehicles are even better than their predecessors. The Euro 5 engines are cleaner and more economical, and they have extra standard specification details such as multi-function steering wheels which control their Bluetooth telephone systems, cruise controls and speed limiters. We’ve also added optional parking sensors.”

TWL’s orange vinyl decals, applied to the gleaming black paintwork by Dragon Graphics, of Cardiff, reflect the theme of the operator’s recent rebranding.

“So as well as being cost-effective workhorses, our new vans are also highly visible mobile advertisements for our business when they’re out on the road, which is most of the time!” said Mr Hirst.

The Vitos are used by TWL’s engineers, who visit customer premises to install telephone systems and data cabling throughout South Wales and the rest of the UK – some contracts have even taken them as far as Scotland.

“Our customers rely on us so with a workload like that our vehicles must be completely reliable, as well as fuel efficient and comfortable,” he added. “The new Vito easily meets all these criteria and our engineers are delighted with them.”
