Venda, on-demand convergent commerce provider, has been selected by Bonmarché, UK value retailer selling affordable quality womenswear, to help boost its ecommerce offering.

Following the change in ownership to Sun European, which also owns womenswear brands Alexon and Jacques Vert, Bonmarché reassessed its strategy for sustainable growth. As a vital part of its new strategy, it made the decision to invest in ecommerce and capitalise on the opportunities presented by the online market, particularly in large ladies and 50+ demographics.

Bonmarché turned to Venda after identifying the need for an ecommerce platform that was easy to implement and flexible enough to grow with its business needs. It required a provider that could offer new and innovative services and technology, as well as having extensive experience in apparel ecommerce and an in-depth knowledge of trading in Europe. After evaluating a number of platform providers including, Ecommera, Magento, Demandware and IBM, the Venda ecommerce platform was chosen as it ticked all the boxes and more.

In addition to using the Venda ecommerce platform, the Bonmarché site will take advantage of Venda’s innovative services and tools. Venda Interactive Merchandising will be used to schedule updates to the site’s merchandising during promotional periods, to ensure content is always up-to-date and the customer experience is not disrupted. The Venda Imageware product viewer will also enable Bonmarché to create, preview, revise and publish site content, dynamic imagery, interactive video and more. This can be donefrom one central location - quickly, efficiently and accurately - encouraging purchasing, boosting conversion and increasing revenue.

Katherine Scott, head of multi-channel at Bonmarché commented: “The sale of Bonmarché presented the perfect opportunity for us to reinvent ourselves online, representing afantastic opportunity for sustainable growth in a highly competitive womenswear market. Venda’s platform has offered us a pioneering ecommerce solution that can grow with our business and will enable us to keep Bonmarché at the forefront of consumer minds by creating a more engaging, customer-friendly and convenient shopping experience.”

Eric Abensur, Group CEO at Venda, added: “Bonmarché has identified a real opportunity for growth in its market. It truly understands the potential that ecommerce can have on its bottom line, and as a strategy for sustainable growth. In this day and age, any retailer needs tohave an effective ecommerce presence if it's going to tap into the spendinghabits of the UK public. Retailers that don’t evolve and embrace the ecommerce revolution could find themselves struggling to compete in an ever competitive market.”
