Monarch hosts enthusiast trip on its inaugural flight to Friedrichshafen

With Monarch  launching new flights to Friedrichshafen, it was the perfect opportunity for the leading scheduled leisure airline and Friedrichshafen airport to team up and make the inaugural flight one to remember.
 
On Thursday 6th December, Monarch Airlines took a number of aviation enthusiasts and Christmas-market shoppers on its inaugural flight from London Gatwick to Friedrichshafen for a whirlwind tour of some significant historical aviation sights and visited the famous Christmas markets of the Lake Constance region.

Enthusiasts enjoyed a visit to the Dornier Museum, which houses a number of unique aircraft, and a guided tour of the famous Zeppelin Hangers and production site. The trip also included an afternoon at the world famous Christmas markets, where they sampled some seasonal delights including Lebkuchen and Printen gingerbreads, German Stollen, Zimtsterne cinnamon cookies and Glühwein.
 
Managing Director, Kevin George commented, “This was a fitting way to celebrate the launch of another of our new winter routes and we were delighted to offer enthusiasts, shoppers and journalists the chance to sample the highlights of this great and convenient gateway to some of the best known ski resorts in Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein as well as fantastic city break.”

For anyone wanting a pre- Christmas  break, Monarch now offers great value flights to Friedrichshafen from Gatwick and  Manchester (starting 14th December 2012) from £36.50 one way.  After visiting the Christmas markets in Friedrichshafen, another can be found in Konstanz, a short Catamaran ride across Lake Constance, and venturing slightly further afield, are the bridges linking the city with Kreuzlingen in Switzerland.
