With the country in the grips of another bitterly cold winter, increased energy efficiency and lower fuel bills are just some of the many advantages of buying a new build property according to national homebuilder, Taylor Wimpey.

Taylor Wimpey’s Sonnets Place development in Hermitage is currently the only new homes development in the area, offering local househunters a rare opportunity to snap up a modern, well designed home which is more energy efficient and lower maintenance than older, second hand properties.

Darren McCormack, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Oxfordshire comments: “A home is probably the most expensive investment you’ll ever make, and it’s important to make the right decision. Choosing a new home over a second hand property could save you thousands on DIY, maintenance and improvements, not to mention ongoing savings in areas such as fuel bills.

“By moving to a brand new Taylor Wimpey home, homeowners can benefit from a range of energy saving features as standard, such as double glazed windows and patio doors throughout, wall insulation and energy efficient heating. We know these features make our modern homes significantly more energy efficient than older properties, leading to dramatically reduced fuel bills.”

New homes are designed to accommodate modern lifestyles and offer features such as en-suite bathrooms, fitted wardrobes, plenty of built-in storage, modern appliances and flexible three storey living space not often found in older homes.

Darren added: “A new property offers buyers a blank canvas which means you don’t have to go through the cost and effort of putting right other people’s decoration and DIY disasters. And it’s not just home improvement costs to consider, ongoing structural maintenance of older properties can be a costly and time-consuming business and many owners are forced to bring in the professionals for major jobs, including repairs to roofs, plumbing and wiring. All new Taylor Wimpey properties come with an NHBC certificate so you can relax knowing that the structure of your home is guaranteed for 10 years.

“In addition to all this, one of the big advantages of a new build property is that we can offer the incentives and flexibility which allow potential purchasers to buy their new home with much lower deposits. For example, the Government backed NewBuy scheme has seen an increase in the availability of 95% loan to value mortgages specifically for new build properties, meaning credit-worthy buyers may now only need to save a 5% deposit to secure their new home.”

Taylor Wimpey’s Sonnets Place development, located off Pinewood Crescent, is now selling a selection of three and four bedroom homes, with prices starting from just £270,000.

Situated in the picturesque village of Hermitage, Sonnets Place is the perfect place to set up home. Hermitage enjoys a beautifully scenic backdrop, being surrounded by breathtaking countryside and woodlands. The village itself provides everything you need for day to day living, with a general store, post office, butchers, pubs, coffee shop, doctors and dentists. Tesco and Sainsbury’s supermarkets are just five miles from the development and Newbury town centre is less than 6 miles from your door.

Hermitage Primary School is within walking distance of the development and for older children; Park House School and Newbury College are also nearby. Living in Hermitage you're well connected thanks to the easy access to the A34 and M4 providing access to almost anywhere in the country. When you want to leave the car at home, Newbury and Thatcham rail stations are both just 4 miles away, offering services to Reading and London Paddington.
