The Co-operative Bank has released figures of the amount raised in 2012 through their charity credit cards.

The Bank raised £1,250,659 through the 15 charity credit cards available, with one long-standing partnership also reaching their 20th Anniversary this year.

Reaching the impressive milestone is the partnership with campaigners Amnesty International which launched in1993. For just over the last decade alone, the credit card has raised over £3,000,000 for the organisation.

Head of Partnerships at The Co-operative Bank, Colin Welby, says; "We're delighted that our charity credit cards have had another successful year and we believe that our products are a hassle free way for customers to donate to charity. We remain committed to the charity credit card market going in to 2013.

"As a co-operative, our values are aligned to the charity sector and we plan to maintain our long-standing commitment to them, which goes beyond providing financial products."

When a Co-operative Bank charity credit card is opened, the associated charity will receive a sum (up to £20) and then £2.50 if the account is used within 6 months. A further 25p is then donated for every £100 spent or transferred on the card.

The Co-operative Bank offers a range of charity credit card products including, Act!onaid International, Amnesty International, Christian Aid, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, tearfund, Oxfam, RSPB, Save the Children, Shelter, Water Aid, Woodland Trust, Cafod, Help the Aged and Help the Hospice.
