Alfa Romeo counters 13-plate superstitions with a lucky Cloverleaf charm

1st March 2013 Print
Alfa Giulietta Sportiva

Alfa Romeo will draw on its rich racing heritage this March as it gives away key rings in the form of the lucky four-leafed-clover that has symbolised its sporting heart since 1923 with new ’13-plate cars*.

The Cloverleaf or Quadrifoglio Verde in Italian – remains an exclusive line across the Alfa Romeo range, but the first 200 buyers of a ’13-registered car will drive away with a good luck charm to dispel any superstitions about the traditionally unlucky number.

Whilst a free Cloverleaf charm alone may not be reason enough to buy a ’13-plate Alfa Romeo, the latest incentives on the MiTo and Giulietta Sportiva, which includes a Cloverleaf alongside the Sportiva badge, may well be. Current offers on the three door MiTo Sportiva now include £1,500 worth of specification for only an additional £250**. Alternatively you could own a five door Giulietta Sportiva which includes £3,000 worth of specification for only £1,000^ plus an additional £2,000 Alfa Romeo deposit contribution^^ towards your PCP finance. Both models are currently available with a five year warranty***.

Alfa’s sporting connection with the iconic cloverleaf began in 1923 when Alfa Romeo racer, the ‘eternally second’ Ugo Sivocci, carried a four-leafed clover on his Alfa Romeo RL as he lined up for the world’s oldest sports car race – the Targa Florio.

The symbol brought Sivocci the luck he had hoped for with a momentous victory at the Sicilian race. Alfa Romeo has adopted the symbol ever since. Bearing the Quadrifoglio Verde, Alfa Romeo went on to win the revered Targa Florio for six years in a row.

The Cloverleaf – now recognised and celebrated by Alfa Romeo enthusiasts the world over – is also the name of the Alfa Romeo Members’ Club. Members of the club are entitled to exclusive benefits and receive access to special events.  Visit: cloverleafclub.co.uk/?campaignid=sm103
