Speller Metcalfe’s Small Works Eco Vicarage project has made the finals of the Greenbuild Awards in the Domestic New Build category.

The Greenbuild Awards 2013 recognises excellence in sustainable buildings, with a particular focus on projects that can illustrate an understanding of the importance of building performance in use.

This year saw some stiff competition and the judges had a hard task selecting a shortlist. After weeks of deliberation they have chosen the finalists and the winners will be announced at a celebratory dinner, hosted by Patrick Kielty, on May 8 at Manchester’s grade II* listed Midland Hotel during Greenbuild Expo 2013.

Judged by a panel of distinguished industry leaders including Kerry Mashford, Chief executive of National Energy Foundation, winning a Greenbuild Award raises the bar for the industry who are consistently trying to reduce the environmental impact of our buildings.

The awards take place alongside the Greenbuild Expo held at Manchester Central on the 8th and 9th May. Finalists of this year’s awards will be showcased at the awards gallery, which is one of many features at Greenbuild Expo 2013.

Greenbuild’s Lucy Young said: “We were thrilled to get so many entries to our second Greenbuild Awards and there's some very strong contenders on the shortlist that we are announcing today. This illustrates the increasing number of organisations waking up to the importance of evaluating their buildings' performance and ensuring that a low-energy design remains low-energy in reality.”
