Sound as a Pound v the Rand

As the media continues to report on the pound’s sad demise against both the US dollar and the Euro, Fleewinter reports a steady increase in bookings to South Africa as a direct result of Sterling’s continuing strength versus the Rand.

Comments Alistair Luxmoore, owner of Fleewinter, “Euro and dollar destinations have rocketed in price in recent months but in South Africa it’s a completely different story. It is quite remarkable that the rates are actually lower than a year ago and, unlike travelling to the USA, there’s no jet lag to deal with. It sounds a cliché but there really has never been a more cost-effective time to visit South Africa.”

Here are just two holiday ideas available from Fleewinter who can tailor-make any trip depending on requirements…

7-night Kruger Safari from £1850 (£350 cheaper than in 2012)

Fleewinter has a 7-night itinerary which includes three-nights staying at Arathusa Safari Lodge on the banks of a lake on the Sabi Private Reserve. There are 10 thatched luxury suites, each of which has a veranda with a 180 degree view of the waterhole. The trip commences with two nights staying at Chestnut Lodge at Hazyview in the Greater Kruger and, following the three-night safari, two nights are spent at King’s Walden, a country lodge in the Tzaneen area.

The holiday costs from £1850 pp (two sharing) which includes international flights, 7-nights’ accommodation, most meals, 6 game drives, guided bush walks and car hire.

A week in Cape Town from £465 pp (£45 pp cheaper than 2012)

Fleewinter has more options of accommodation in Cape Town than any other UK operator including Casa, a luxurious apartment in an elevated location with ocean views. The apartment has shared use of a swimming pool and is just a five-minute stroll from the beachfront, and a 10-minute drive from Table Mountain Cableway.

A week’s stay in April costs £465 pp, two sharing. Fleewinter can book flights, car hire and excursions to the Winelands or Garden Route on request.
