Apartment blocks run online

29th March 2013 Print

More than 3,000 people are now able to manage every aspect of the apartment block they live in through an online system developed by a Bristol-based property management company.

Residents can report everything from a lightbulb blowing or grass needing cutting to major incidents instantly online and – more importantly – monitor work that is being carried out. The system also helps people in buildings with a number of residents keep track of quarterly bills and annual fees such as insurance.

MyBNS was created by BNS Management Services in Downend, Bristol and introduced into flats and apartment buildings in the area a year ago. It allows residents, landlords and the property management team to communicate online at a time to suit them and stay updated with work done to properties.

Managing 175 blocks across Bristol and the South West, BNS directors say that the service has been a vital communication tool and has meant a better service for users.

Operations Director Ian Simmonds said: “MyBNS.co.uk has worked spectacularly well and has turned into something much more than we thought it would be when we launched.

“Residents and landlords can access everything they need to know about their block and what we are doing to manage it at the touch of a button. It also allows them to contact us instantly with any problems they have.

“Since launching we have continuously upgraded the system in conjunction with those using it and it has now developed to include sections for health and safety, finance, insurance, contractors and inspections.

“Our property managers and maintenance teams are also able to upload pictures and inspection reports directly from site meaning instant and transparent reporting. It’s a really slick tool and I think it sets us apart from other property management agents out there.

“Residents like the system as they can keep informed and landlords also find it reassuring as they can check on their properties remotely and regularly and can see the latest photos and issues.

“The system also encourages everyone to work together with a combined effort between residents, landlords and it’s great to include the residents who want to be involved with the running of their home. I’m really looking forward to developing it even further.”

MyBNS.co.uk is available for over 3000 people living in BNS managed blocks in the South West. Launched by brothers Andrew and Ian Simmonds in 2006, the business has gained a reputation for reliability and rapid response times.
