Toyo control tyre on GTis and Civics for 2013
Respected Japanese tyre manufacturer Toyo continues a successful start to the 2013 race season by being chosen as the control tyre for two more leading FWD championships. Both the Tegiwa Civic Cup and Teekay Couplings Production GTi Championship are both now using the firm's Proxes R888 tyre as control for the full season.
Both the GTis and Civics have been configured to run with near-production regs, capped modifications and exceptionally close racing, making the use of a control tyre imperative, to further help level the playing field and ensure parity across the grid.
The Proxes R888, which balances exceptional dry grip, superb wet weather predictability and impressive wear rates in a cost-effective package, is the perfect tyre for these quick FWD machines, allowing competitors to really extract the best from their suspension set-ups, which are free in both championships. All cars will be required to use the GG compound 195/50/15 size, meaning that only tyre pressures and set-up will be able to offer any kind of advantage.
The Tegiwa Civic Cup has grown this year to become a full standalone race with the UK Time Attack support package. With 22 cars already registered to compete in this year’s series, it promises to be a real spectacle.
The Teekay Couplings Production GTi Championship is also a fully-fledged race series in its own right and boasts similarly impressive grids and equally close racing. Both are an object lesson in how competitive motorsport needn't cost the earth, with genuinely competitive cars in both series being built for around five or six thousand pounds.

Both series have extensively tested on the tyres with excellent results, both in terms of lap times and wear rates. We're expecting to see some great times from many drivers this year.'
