St. Helens homeseekers spring into action

18th April 2013 Print

News that North West property prices have risen by around 5% have prompted St. Helen’s homebuyers into action with one homebuilder reporting a 60% increase in enquiries.

Henderson Homes, who is building eleven semi-detached and detached homes at Jubilee Gardens, off Cowley Hill Lane in St. Helens, says that since news broke that the market was showing signs of a ‘slow but steady’ recovery the number of enquiries from couples and young families looking to move has increased significantly.

Max Henderson, Managing Director at Henderson Homes, says; “Buyers have been biding their time waiting to see how things pan out in the property market. With prices starting to creep up, they are keen to set the wheels in motion to secure a property whilst they are affordable.”

Market analysts have attributed the lift in activity to a stronger jobs market, with employment rising at its fastest pace since the late 1990’s.

Government led initiatives introduced to kick start mortgage lending have also been cited as making a significant contribution to helping buyers onto the property ladder, with The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) reporting that lending to first-time buyers has reached a five-year high.

Says Max, “Statistics show that it’s generally cheaper to pay a mortgage than pay rent and people want to buy, but the barrier has been access to funding. With evidence that funding is becoming available and more mortgages are being granted, we should start to see more people achieve their dream of moving home.”

Homes at Jubilee Gardens are available from £210,000. For more information, visit hendersonhomes.co.uk.
