Monarch celebrates first flight to Malta from East Midlands Airport

Tuesday 7th May saw Monarch, the leading scheduled leisure airline, launch its first ever scheduled flight to Malta from East Midlands Airport.
 
The cabin crew and First Officer for the flight were on hand at check-in to greet passengers with cake and champagne to celebrate the first departure to the new scheduled destination.

For one local couple, traveling on this flight marked a very special occasion. Janet and Henry Pavier from Nottingham, first visited Malta for their honeymoon 40 years ago and were returning to the island to celebrate their Ruby wedding anniversary.

Expanding on its network of destinations from East Midlands Airport, Malta is a brand new scheduled route for Monarch, with over 18,000 seats available for summer 2013. The flights will operate twice a week on a Tuesday and Saturday.

Malta is the first of two new routes to launch this summer from East Midlands Airport with Ibiza also launching on 23rd May.
