BBC Radio 6 Music has announced a stand-out, eclectic line-up of talent who will be hosting the Sunday Service (4-6pm) slot, when Jarvis Cocker takes a summer break.

On Sundays throughout June and July listeners can look forward to hand-picked music, thoughts and musings from four legends of the worlds of rock, punk and poetry.

James Stirling, Head of Programmes at BBC 6 Music, said: “Over the summer, 6 Music’s Sunday afternoons will feature iconic artists sharing their record collections. They are all great story tellers and it promises to be a special run of shows for music fans.”

The line-up is as follows:

2nd June: Bobby Gillespie - lead singer and founding member of the legendary band, Primal Scream

9th June: John Cooper Clarke - performance poet, known in the 1970s as a “Punk Poet”

6th / 23rd / 30th June: John Lydon – aka Johnny Rotten, lead singer of the Sex Pistols and frontman of Public Image Ltd (PiL)

7th / 14th / 21st July: Colin Greenwood - bassist for the iconic band, Radiohead

Bobby Gillespie said: “It’s so important to get people back into record stores discovering new music, so I’m looking forward to spending a few hours on 6 Music playing new stuff from the likes of Savages, Deerhunter, Nick Cave, Parquet Courts, My Bloody Valentine, Kurt Vile and Allah Las.”

John Lydon said: “The blueprint to a punk? 6 Music vs The Sex Rottens. P.S. Keep taking the PiL."

With their distinctive personalities and musical tastes, each presenter will be bringing their own special touch to their show each week.

And fans of Primal Scream can hear their live gig on 6 Music on Saturday 1 June, 9-10pm, when they play at the Liverpool Echo Arena as part of BBC Radio 5 live's Big Day Out. The set will feature some of their biggest hits and tracks from their latest album.
