If you fancy flying into New York, jetting out to Paris and taking off from Sydney, you now can without even taking your feet off the ground.

SimSpot gives customers a chance to take the controls of a Boeing 737-800 inside a next generation, state-of-the-art flight simulator.

Based on the top floor of The Cornerhouse in Nottingham, SimSpot is one of the only flight simulators of its kind in the UK open to the public.

Following a briefing with a qualified pilot, visitors will be able to choose to fly in or out of over 24,000 airports around the world. Options include flying high over the famous skyscraper skyline into Hong Kong International Airport, or landing at Geneva Airport after passing over the snow-covered Alps.

The simulator, which was shipped to Nottingham by a specialist team in Germany, is the exact replica of a Boeing 737-800 cockpit with every dial, button, switch and instrument fully functional to create a truly lifelike flying experience.

The simulator is so authentic that it can create a range of scenarios from simple weather issues, all the way to engine failures.

SimSpot offers visitors a choice of session lengths, ranging from 20 minutes, with prices starting from £49, to a five-hour simulator course. SimSpot’s team will also be running a Fear of Flying Course, using the cockpit setting to help rationalise the flying process.

Mark Wright, co-owner of SimSpot, believes that the attraction is opening in a unique location.

“Simulators of this quality are usually found in fairly remote areas, often close to airfields and airports. It’s actually quite rare to find one in an inner-city location.

“You don’t have to be a pilot to try SimSpot anyone can give it a go as it really is a unique and thrilling experience although the calibre of the technology we’re using and our relative proximity to East Midlands Airport, allows us to offer a variety of training courses for commercial pilots too.”

“We have big plans for the future of the business and the idea is to add different simulator options as we grow. So, visitors could soon be driving a Formula One racing car or flying a Fighter Jet.”
