Family activity holidays with Activities Abroad

15th June 2013 Print

If booking a family summer holiday is still on your to-do list, fear not. Family specialist Activities Abroad still has availability on a number of departures this summer.

With activities appealing to the entire family, there’s no need for kids’ clubs; an age-matching service ensures your children will make like-minded friends, too.

Montenegro

Discover the fjord-filled landscapes of Montenegro on this family holiday which makes the most of the country’s spectacular, wide-ranging landscapes. Near Kotor, unwind on beaches reached only by kayak, test your head for heights on a high-ropes course, snorkel and swim to your heart’s content and enjoy BBQ lunches in scenic spots. Then, head inland to Zabljak which, located near a national park and river, is the setting for hikes, orienteering and white-water rafting through what just happens to be Europe’s deepest canyon. And, for avid sightseers, there’s time to admire the country’s Venetian-influenced architecture, potter around Kotor and sample local cuisine.

Departing 20 July and 10 August, the holiday costs from £1,245 per adult and £1,220 per child (ages 8-12) – family of four sharing – including flights (London), transfers, seven nights’ B&B, seven other meals, all activities, equipment and tuition.

Croatia

This new holiday for active families takes place amid the beaches and picturesque fishing villages of Croatia’s Adriatic coast. Throw waterfalls, stunning national parks and white-water rivers into the mix, and it’s the perfect setting for an array of activities from sea kayaking and cycling to canoeing, hiking and sightseeing. Based in an apartment at the beach-front hotel, each family has the flexibility of self-catering with self-contained apartments plus the option of dining in the hotel's restaurant, too.

Departing 21 July and 4 August, the holiday costs from £995 per adult and £945 per child (8-14) – two sharing or a child sharing with two adults – including flights (London), transfers, seven nights’ B&B, five other meals, activities and tuition.

Turkey

If you like your beach holidays with a dose of activities, too, head to Kas in Turkey on this one-week activity holiday which offers a complete change of scene. While away the hours in the warm sunshine, enjoying the hotel’s pools, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath and seafront location – then there are the activities: paddle over a sunken city in a kayak, admire dramatic scenery on a gorge walk, try your hand at tubing – stopping for a mud fight along the way – and head inland for mountain biking and hiking.

Departing 29 July and 5, 12 & 19 August, the holiday costs from £1,045 per adult and £1,005 per child (ages 8-11) – two sharing or a child sharing with two adults – including flights (London), transfers, seven nights’ B&B, six other meals, all activities, equipment and tuition.

Catalan Pyrenees

On this week-long activity holiday based in Sort, there’s the chance to try canyoning, white-water rafting, riding, mountain biking and kayaking, all in Spain’s picturesque Pallars Sobira region within the Catalan Pyrenees. A day exploring a national park in a 4x4 jeep is also included, as is a picnic hike. Aside from all this, the hotel’s a short walk from the centre of town, so there’s no forgetting you’re in Spain with tapas restaurants galore and Sort’s annual fiesta an added bonus for families visiting at the end of July.

Departing 27 July, the holiday costs from £1,090 per person – two sharing or a child (ages 8-15) sharing with two adults – including flights (London), transfers, seven nights’ B&B, four other meals, all activities, equipment and tuition.
