Following the success of their custom ski hat company Hats for the Hill, London-based entrepreneurs Ali Watkiss and Zoe Armstrong (both 26) have launched a brand new business concept - custom sunglasses.

Branded 'SunGods', the concept launched seven days ago on crowdfunding site Indiegogo and surpassed its initial funding target of £8,700 within 36 hours. With 14 days still to go until their funding campaign ends, they have already sold over 700 pairs and are planning to enter their first production run as soon as possible, with shipments made by the end of the summer.

Ali Watkiss, founder, said: “The idea for SunGods was born from years of frustration with countless pairs of sunglasses. Good quality branded pairs cost over £100, while the cheap £10 knock-offs offer limited protection and always break too easily. From our experience with Hats for the Hill, we knew we could bring to market a better pair of sunglasses at a price you can afford.”

SunGods are customisable polarised sunglasses built from innovative memory plastic TR90, a unique and flexible material which protects the glasses from snapping or breaking.

They feature high protection lenses which filter 100% of UVA and UVB rays are polarised to reduce glare and enhance optical clarity.

With a possibility of 6,000 combinations, buyers can create a truly unique product, choosing from ten different matte frame colours and six polarised and mirrored lens options.

In addition to a lifetime guarantee on each pair of sunglasses, SunGods have just added two new colours to the range following the successful achievement of their stretch goal.

"Design the pair of sunglasses you've always wanted, then take them anywhere."
