Half-price luxury Botswana bargain

28th August 2013 Print

Expert Africa is offering a 50% discount on a very exciting, one-off trip to Botswana this September. Usually a very costly destination (this trip would normally cost £7,534), a half-price saving of £3,767 - solely available through Expert Africa – makes it spectacularly good value. Travelling independently, this itinerary for two people has been tailor-made to combine some of the Botswana's top camps, excellent guiding and exhilarating activities, and to offer some real diversity - at the prime time of year for game-viewing.

Beginning in the Kwando Concession – Botswana’s largest private wildlife reserve – you’re likely to encounter predators, good populations of elephant and buffalo, and possibly wild dog, too. A walking safari, led by an outstanding private guide, is included, and a mekoro (traditional canoe) trip along the Selinda Spillway is an unusual and serene experience.

In the Okavango Delta, from a lodge that stands amidst towering palm trees huge baobab trees, you’ll head out on 4WD game drives – by day or by night – with a guide and a tracker (two pairs of eyes increase the chances of good sightings). The wildlife here is impressive with plenty of giraffe, buffalo and elephant. Lion and leopard are the dominant predators, but cheetah and hyena are not uncommon. And the lodge even has its own 'resident' elephant (often seen on the paths or visiting the pool!).

In the Chobe National Park in the northern Kalahari – an area at its best in September – there are vast herds of elephant and buffalo, and large prides of lion. Here, you’ll be sleeping under canvas in high-end ‘camping’ fashion with spacious tents and en suite flush loos.

Package: Expert Africa (expertafrica.com) is offering this 12-day independent trip, departing 21 September, for £3,767 pp (two sharing). Normal price is £7,534 pp. This includes: two nights at Kwando Lagoon Camp, two nights at Motswiri Camp, three nights at Sandibe Safari Lodge, two nights at Chobe under Canvas and two nights at Nxabega Safari Camp; plus all meals, all light aircraft transfers, and activities.
