After months and miles of exhaustive testing, suspension legend Eibach has launched a selection of new Multipro Coilover kits onto the European market for many cars within the VW Group model range. The latest models to benefit from the firm’s acclaimed US R&D facility are the Mk V and VI platform versions of the much-modified VW Golf and Jetta, Skoda Octavia, Audi A3 and Seat Leon.

Whilst coilovers have formed part of Eibach’s product line up for many years now, the Mulitpro range raises the bar for the industry in terms of price, performance and componentry. The R2 version of the kit uses state-of-the-art remote reservoir damping and adjustable height platforms to endow these cars with phenomenal levels of handling, whilst still maintaining a compliant and comfortable ride quality. Adjusters are conveniently situated to allow the driver to quickly adapt the car to road or track use, allowing quick tailoring of set-up to suit driving conditions. This is race-car adjustability with road-car usability. The R1 kit enjoys the same build quality and control but uses a more traditional one way adjuster with combined bump and rebound control.

The R2 kit uses lightweight aluminium construction, with 10-way adjustable compression and 7 way rebound damping to provide ultimate tuneability. The springs used are direct from Eibach’s ERS race spring range and are coupled with precision spherical upper mounts to allow perfect alignment and set up. Track-day enthusiasts now even have the opportunity to accurately corner-weight the car for sublime handling, whereas fast-road aficionados can select comfort, ultimate grip - or anything in-between. Although each kit comes ready supplied with an optimum set-up, enthusiasts and tuners can also delve into Eibach’s vast ERS range to tailor and tune their set-up for track or race work, or indeed to compensate for lighter or heavier than stock set-ups. Engine swaps, or stripped-out racers are a great example of where a change in springs could prove advantageous. Those seeking a severely stanced car could also opt for springs with a shorter free length, lowering the car, without compromising the stroke of the damper. In short, as its name suggests, Multipro’s abilities, options and capabilities are pretty much endless!
