Homebuilder David Wilson is now offering the Government’s ‘Help to Buy’ initiative at six developments across the North East.

The scheme is generating strong demand for new homes, with buyers keen to take the opportunity to purchase a new-build property with just a five per cent deposit and a 75 per cent mortgage.

The company has a wide selection of homes, ranging from one to five bedrooms, available at Blaydon, Consett, Houghton-le-Spring, Spennymoor and Washington.

Prices range from £96,995 to £540,500 – all within the £600,000 upper limit for Help to Buy, which can be used by existing homeowners as well as first-time buyers.

At Burton Woods, Spennymoor, the housebuilder has a three-bedroom ‘Fairway’ design from its latest range, offering more than 1,000 sq ft of stylish living space.

This welcoming family home has an open-plan kitchen and dining room, plus a separate living room. Both rooms are light and airy, thanks to French windows leading out into the garden. Upstairs the master bedroom includes fitted wardrobes and an en suite.

The Fairway is priced from £181,995.

David Wilson also has Help to Buy available at its latest development, Berry Edge in Consett, where it is building a selection of three and four bedroom homes.

Sales Director Fenton Hewitt said: “The great advantage of the scheme is that buyers only need a 75 per cent mortgage.

“This means they can get a loan at a lower interest rate, which in turn means monthly payments are much cheaper than with a higher loan-to-value mortgage.

“This not only benefits first-time buyers but also ‘second steppers’ already on the property ladder, because it makes moving up to a larger home much more affordable.”
