The government’s ‘Help to Buy’ scheme has been hailed a success by the Home Builders Federation, having offered thousands of buyers the chance to step up the property ladder since its introduction earlier this year.

At Kier Homes’ Sovereign Court development in St Neots, the initiative means that buyers can own a brand new one-bedroom executive apartment with deposits starting from under £6,800. There are only four homes remaining at the site, however, so prospective buyers will need to move quickly if they want to secure a bargain at this sought after location.

The scheme, which is available to both first-time buyers and existing homeowners, offers a government loan for up to 20% of the value of a new property and requires just a 5% deposit to guarantee the purchase. The deal is only available in England and allows buyers the opportunity to own a new home with a mortgage of 75%.

David Thomas, sales and marketing director for Kier Homes, said: “This helping hand from the government means now is a really great time for anyone to buy a new home. Unsurprisingly, we’ve had a lot of interest from first-time buyers looking to get that foot on the ladder who were previously priced out of the market. Our exclusive one-bedroom apartments at Sovereign Court are ideal for people who may have found themselves in that situation.”

The four remaining Oakham homes, priced from £135,995, offer perfectly planned, high-specification accommodation with a spacious kitchen/living area, a generous bedroom and a well-appointed bathroom, as well as an allocated parking space.

The apartments also benefit from a great location - just a short walk from the train station with rail links to London King’s Cross taking less than 45 minutes. The city of Cambridge is just 20 minutes away by road and St Neots itself boasts a choice of leisure facilities and a beautiful riverside park.
