Apartment living is proving a popular option for buyers in the Bristol area with Barratt selling more than 90 homes so far this year at just one of its developments.

Barratt’s award winning development ND10@The Zone has proved a huge success for the five star developer with the city centre location attracting a wide range of buyers but sales director Andrea Pilgrim said that it is not just the city centre where apartments are in demand.

“We can’t build fast enough to satisfy demand at ND10@The Zone but we are also finding that apartments are proving popular in locations outside the city centre,’’ she said.

Charlton Hayes in Filton and The Meads in Frampton Cotterell are both offering apartment living and Andrea said these out of city locations are appealing to a wider audience.

“In the city the majority of buyers are those looking for their first home and investors which is as we would expect while other developments are also appealing to downsizers keen for a fresh new home but preferring a semi-rural location.’’

Andrea said the increasing popularity of apartments is down to a number of factors in the housing market, such as the success of Help to Buy, and the rising confidence is having a positive impact on sales.

“Schemes such as Help to Buy mean that home ownership is within reach of more people than ever before and we are also seeing investors boosting their property portfolios with high quality homes,’’ she said.

“The apartments are also proving popular with buyers who want to downsize from family homes into something brand new with an NHBC guarantee, our five year warranty and a good location with our developments ticking those boxes.’’
