Work gets under way on new eco-friendly Taylor Wimpey headquarters

Leading local housebuilder Taylor Wimpey South Midlands has broken ground at the site of its brand new headquarters in Newton Leys, Buckinghamshire.

The developer is set to relocate from its current premises in central Milton Keynes to the purpose-built, eco-friendly office building next year after work started on the nine-month construction project earlier this month.

Taylor Wimpey’s decision to establish its new headquarters in Newton Leys represents yet another boost for this growing community, where hundreds of new homes are being built alongside business premises, a new primary school, a local centre, a park, leisure facilities, open spaces and recreation areas.

The new office also affirms the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint across all areas of its business.

Taylor Wimpey South Midlands Managing Director Andrew Sturla, commented: “We’re delighted to have formally marked the start of work on our brand new headquarters in Newton Leys, and we’re all very much looking forward to settling in after building work has been completed in the summer of 2014.

Taylor Wimpey’s new office is being constructed under a design and build contract by leading building firm Interserve Construction Limited.

Construction work is due to be completed by the end of April 2014, at which point Taylor Wimpey will fit out the interior of the building ahead of moving in.

The new offices have been designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent standard, with eco-friendly features including roof-mounted solar panels and rainwater harvesting, while facilities for cyclists will also be provided to encourage staff members to use alternative forms of transport.

BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the world’s foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings and sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design.

Taylor Wimpey South Midlands is currently building a range of new homes at Willow Lake, Newton Leys, including two-bedroom apartments from £161,000 and three and four-bedroom houses from £250,000.

The Willow Lake Sales Centre is located in St Lucia Crescent, Newton Leys (off Drayton Road), and is open daily from 10am to 5pm (1.30pm to 5pm on Mondays).
