Fleewinter has launched a new seven-night itinerary called Moroccan Gastronomy Tour, providing a thorough introduction to the variety of the delicious cuisine to be found the length and breadth of Morocco, from simple (but delicious) Berber fair, through to the high end of ‘Gastro Morocco’ to be found in the fine-dining restaurants of Marrakech, Essaouira and other major towns and cities.

Following arrival at Marrakech, you will be whisked (no pun intended) direct to the luxurious Rebali Riad complex, located in the village of Sidi Kaouki, 20 minutes south of Essaouira.

The following morning, the resident Rebali chef will escort you on a fascinating walking tour of the souks and fish market in Essaouira, rubbing shoulders with the locals as they barter for the best produce at the best prices!

Once back at the riad, with the freshly bought produce, the chef will demonstrate how to prepare and cook some delicious, traditional dishes, which you will then enjoy for lunch.

On day two, your camel awaits and you head along the coast to a remote fishing village and café for lunch (catch of the day from prawns to local lobster).

On day three, mule will be the form of transport to take you to a local Berber village where a simple, tasty lunch will be eaten with your hosts in a farmhouse; although there might be a language barrier, the food will act as your translator.

The following morning you will enjoy the sight of (and join in) the most delicious sweet pastries being made, naturally followed by some serious tasting, washed down with a cup of sweet, mint tea.

That afternoon you head up to Marrakech and Fleewinter recommends the BBQs in the main square for simple food and great banter.

On day six a guide will escort you around the maze of souks in the Medina, gathering ingredients along the way, for another Moroccan cookery lesson back at the riad.

On the last full day, escaping crowds of Marrakech, you will head for the fresh air of the Atlas Mountains for a guided tour, and lunch, in a Berber village.

Hopefully the fresh air will give you an appetite as your farewell banquet is the tasting menu at Gastro MK, which is fast gaining a reputation as one of the best restaurants in the entire country.

The holiday costs from £895pp (two sharing) which includes flights, all transfers, seven nights’ B&B accommodation (plus four lunches and one dinner) all private transfers and a mountain guide in the Atlas.
