100% increase in customers switching to Metro Bank

22nd October 2013 Print

New figures from Metro Bank reveal a 100% rise in customers fully switching their accounts under the new seven day switching process from the previous quarterly average.

One month on from the introduction from the Current Account Switch Service, 83% of total full switches have come to Metro Bank from the major high street banks.

The largest share of switching in customers have come from Santander (20%) and HSBC (15%); making up 35% of total full switchers to Metro Bank.

Craig Donaldson, Chief Executive, Metro Bank said: “The first month of seven day switching has been extremely positive for Metro Bank. We’ve seen huge numbers of customers using the new service to vote with their feet, and join us for a customer service focused banking experience.

“Seven day switching has so far been a great step forward for the banking sector in helping to empower customers to make positive choices about finding a bank that best suits their needs. The number of customers using the service to switch also demonstrates the effect it has had, even in a short period, on consumer confidence in switching. We hope to see switching numbers increase even further over time as confidence in the seven day switch service continues to grow.”
