Multimillion Lovell housing plan brings pride back to Granby

Uninhabitable homes and boarded up windows were once a decaying testament to over 20 years of neglect of properties in Liverpool’s Beaconsfield Street.

But thanks to a multi-million pound restoration project by Lovell, the homes are now something an entire community can once again be proud of.

Steeped in Merseyside’s industrial past, these historic two-bedroom terraced houses bear a character and charm unique to the city in which they have stood for 100 years.

These are homes that have survived everything from the blitz to the Toxteth riots and, while decades of deterioration once made repair unthinkable, the heritage of the homes will now live on again with the help of Lovell.

Promising to employ some of the most innovative and advanced building techniques at their disposal, the developer made a £3 million bid back in 2011 to restore 25 of the empty homes and create an additional four new homes.

Just two years later and the properties have been given a new permanent lease of life, with the homes back at their beautiful best and residents moving back in. The technically ambitious project included renovation aspects to retain the special character of the Victorian street frontage while the properties behind were given a complete overhaul to create contemporary new homes built to modern standards.

Now transformed, this stunning development of 29 affordable homes has 20 homes for rent, through HomesHub and Plus Dane, and nine for private sale through Lovell with incentives for first-time buyers.

Benefitting from modern, bright interiors and new back gardens, the homes are priced from an affordable £99,950 and be purchased with just a 5% deposit through the Government-backed Help to Buy scheme.

At a time when property prices continue to rise within the local area, it’s a deal that certainly represents fantastic value for residents according to Clare Noakes, regional sales manager for Lovell.

“Traditional and tree lined, this street is a quiet respite away from the main thoroughfare and one that enjoys a fantastic community feel,” Clare said.

“As Liverpool itself continues to renovate and innovate, the homes put residents within easy reach of the city’s favourite attractions including the Albert Dock and the award-winning Liverpool One shopping centre.”
