Parents will find helping their grown-up children take the first step on to the property ladder is much more affordable than they might think at Taylor Wimpey’s popular Wembdon Grange development in Bridgwater, Somerset.

A recent survey found one in four parents were still supporting at least one adult child aged between 21 and 40 at home, with 66% of them saying this was because their son or daughter couldn’t afford to rent or purchase their own place.

But the Government’s Help To Buy scheme at Wembdon Grange is enabling more first-time buyers to secure their first home by offering the chance to purchase a new property for 80% of its full price – with a deposit of just 5%.

Charlie Joseph, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “There are some fantastic properties available at Wembdon Grange that are ideal for first-time buyers, including two-bedroom apartments from just £108,995 and three-bedroom terraced houses from only £172,995.

“And with Help To Buy, parents longing for a taste of empty nest syndrome will find helping their offspring to finally move out of Mum and Dad’s house is far easier and more affordable than they might imagine.”

The two-bedroom ‘Neston’ apartment, for example, is priced from £108,995 and features an open-plan kitchen/living room, with first and second-floor properties benefiting from an attractive Juliet balcony, plus a master bedroom, a further bedroom and a main bathroom. Outside, there’s allocated parking.

The Help To Buy shared equity scheme at Wembdon Grange is open to eligible first-time buyers and existing homeowners and involves a Government loan of up to 20%. It is available on new-build properties up to the value of £600,000 and there is no salary cap for homebuyers taking advantage of the scheme.

Wembdon Grange is located in the market town of Bridgwater and residents will benefit from the stunning scenery and wildlife of the Quantock Hills on their doorstep, while the tranquil Somerset Levels can be found on the other side of town.

Bridgwater boasts a range of shops, restaurants and pubs, including a lively music scene, while nearby Taunton and Exeter both offer a wider range of shopping and entertainment.

Parents will appreciate that there is a choice of schools in the area, such as St George’s C of E Primary School, which was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, and Bridgwater College offers a range of courses for 16 to 18-year-olds and mature students.

For commuters, the M5 is just over three miles away, while Bridgwater railway station offers direct services to Bristol and Cardiff.

To find out more about becoming a first-time buyer at Wembdon Grange, property-seekers can visit the Sales and Information Centre, located off Western Way, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 7AU, and open daily from 11am to 5pm. Alternatively, the Sales Executive can be contacted on 01278 550675.
