Hugely popular launch event indicates local housing market strength

As the local housing market continues to improve, one highly-anticipated show home has welcomed crowds at its official launch in Somerset.

Part of a brand new venture by housebuilder Elan in Radstock, near Bath, the four-bedroom home has now opened its doors. Since then dozens of visitors have viewed the property, further underlining the strong local demand for affordable, premium-quality housing.

With building work well underway on the other homes at the venture, the opening of the flagship property was the first chance for locals to sample the lifestyle on offer at the Somer Mews development.

Proving a huge hit with those who attended, a total of five reservations have now been made at the location, with just six homes left for house buyers to choose from.

The popularity of the launch makes it Elan’s most successful to date in 2013 and could also suggest that local market will continue to rise well into the New Year, when house sales traditionally surge.

Andrea Nippe, sales director for Elan Homes in the South, explains: “Given the huge local interest in this development, we knew the opening would be well-attended. I think the numbers we have seen just demonstrates the appeal of Radstock as a place to live.

“Certainly, as house prices continue to rise in this part of Somerset, our experience suggests that the high demand for homes locally will continue into 2014.”

Just a short distance from Bath, the family homes at Somer Mews marry a traditional, rural location with a contemporary and stylish design.

Part of the development’s appeal to many buyers is that all of the properties can be bought through Help to Buy. Launched earlier in the year, the Government scheme offers customers at Somer Mews the chance to move in with just a 5% deposit.

It means a three-bedroom semi-detached home at the development could be bought for just a £10,749 down payment.

Remaining costs would then be covered by up to a 20% equity loan from the Government, interest free for five years, and a 75% mortgage from their lender of choice.

Already taken advantage of by over 18,000 house buyers nationwide, the initiative could make the perfect deal for families and young professionals keen for a country home with good commuter links to Bath and Bristol.
