North Africa and Middle East specialist Corinthian Travel has launched a brand new 10-day trip entitled Jordan & Jerusalem.

The holiday is on a private, chauffeur-driven basis and the carefully crafted itinerary combines Jordan’s historic, Biblical and scenic sites, with sightseeing in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

The epic journey commences in the Jordanian capital of Amman, one of the oldest, continually inhabited cities in the World and dating back to the 13th Century BC.

The first stop will be Bethany, the site of Christ’s baptism by John the Baptist on the banks of the River Jordan, before continuing to Jerash, one of the finest Roman cities in the Middle East, much of which was destroyed by an earthquake in 749 AD, and the remains of which were not discovered until 1809.

The itinerary continues down the historic Kings Highway stopping at the Biblical sites of Mount Nebo and Mukawir, as well as the mosaic town of Madaba, before reaching the famous ‘rose-red’ ancient city of Petra, whose rock-carved remains are stunning and rightly considered amongst the finest survivals from the ancient world.

No visit to Jordan is complete without a visit to Wadi Rum, forever immortalised by T.E Lawrence (of Arabia), to survey the walls of the massive Crusader castle of Kerak, before enjoying a walk up to the Cave of Lot.

After an overnight stop by the Dead Sea – the lowest point on earth – the journey continues across the Jordan River to Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947, before discovering the immense Jewish fortress of Masada.

The holiday concludes with three-nights in Jerusalem, to discover its myriad of fascinating religious sites and holy places including the Western (Wailing) Wall, the gardens of Gethsemane, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Church of the Holy Nativity in nearby Bethlehem.

The holiday can commence any day between Sunday and Thursday from now until the end of June, and from September onwards and costs from £2825 pp (two sharing). This includes 9-nights’ B&B (plus three lunches), private chauffeur-driven transport throughout with English speaking driver, local guides, site entrance fees and a cable-car ticket at Masada.

Fully protected for financial security, Corinthian Travel can book international flights on request.
