Europcar, car hire services in Europe, is now the official car hire partner for Visit Somerset, the county’s official tourism website. With half-term just around the corner, Europcar is helping families explore the West Country and enjoy Somerset’s hidden delights for less. Motorists renting with Europcar and visiting Somerset will soon be able to receive a large number of discounted offers, helping travellers explore for less. These include a retail discount brochure from Clarks Village and other discounts from local attractions such as Wookey Hole, West Somerset Railway, Haynes International Motor Museum and the Fleet Air Arm Museum.

John Turner, Vice Chairman of Visit Somerset, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with such a super brand as Europcar. During these periods of austerity it is vital to be building relationships that will support the long term redevelopment of the local economy. This partnership with Europcar means travellers heading to Somerset can book quality car hire for their holidays and weekend breaks. Europcar’s simple and inclusive service, combined with an extensive range of vehicles, means there’s something to suit every journey. So whether it’s an action-packed family holiday to Wookey Hole or a romantic weekend away at a country, spa hotel, Europcar is helping more people see what our county has to offer.”

Ken McCall, Managing Director, Europcar UK Group added: “Our partnership with Visit Somerset creates a great way to encourage people to explore the county and all its wonderful attractions. And it reinforces our goal of helping families make the most of their budget.”

Known as the jewel of the Southwest, Somerset is home to more than just cider and the world famous Glastonbury Festival. From the first UK retail outlet centre, Clarks Village, to two of the most significant cave networks, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole, to the longest steam train network in Europe, the West Somerset railway. If relaxing surrounded by stunning historical scenery is more your thing, then a day at the beach in Minehead should be just the thing or maybe a trip back in time to the stunning medieval village of Dunster for a cream tea. From historic villages and stunning countryside to theatre, fine dining and shopping, Somerset has something for everyone.

For the active family holiday, Exmoor can be explored on horseback, by foot and on bicycle or even steam train, to name a few. Alternatively, take to the water for windsurfing at Wimbleball Lake or try surfing and coasteering on the beach. Finish the day by sampling some of Somerset’s fine produce, from Exmoor beef and venison to fine cheeses and freshly caught fish, all washed down with its famous cider and traditional ales.
