Independent truck dealer scores hat-trick at Volvo awards

An independent truck dealership has scooped three major accolades at Volvo Truck UK’s annual awards ceremony this January.

MC Group, the main Volvo dealer for the South of England, took home the Aftersales Excellence for Compliance, Bus Dealer of the Year and Sales Success trophies.

The Group, which operates from eight sites spanning from Dorset to Essex, picked up the prizes in three of its key business segments at the 2013 Volvo Dealer awards.

Group director Peter Booth says “to win awards in truck sales, truck aftersales, and bus aftermarket, which are three of our core business areas is not only an honour but it demonstrates our continued dedication.

We have built a solid reputation for over 30 years. To be recognised in these areas is a fantastic reflection of our workforce and sends a positive message to our customers that we are focused on providing quality products and excellent service.”

MC finished top of the Swedish manufacturers UK dealer network for first time HGV MoT pass rates, to win the Aftermarket Excellence award, with a rate of 96.2%. This puts MC above the national average rate of 80.5% for all manufacturers and Volvo’s average of 94.8%.

Booth explains “this award is very special to us as we pride ourselves on our first-time pass rates. We understand the importance of getting this right, keeping vehicles on the road, working and earning.”

MC, which was named Motor Transports Dealer of the Year in 2012, went on to claim Volvo UK’s Bus Dealer of the Year 2013 prize. The Groups win was based on a number of factors including increased parts and hours sales and additional contracts with bus operators. It also maintained an excellent score on the Volvo Bus UK Customer Satisfaction Index survey.

The Sales Success award was presented to Paul Cogger, regional truck sales executive at MC. This was largely for his contribution to targeting new business in 2013 and successfully re-introducing Volvo to companies that had not been customers for as long as 15 years.

Booth summarises “each award represents a crucial cornerstone of our business. To be recognised for what we do is fantastic but most importantly it represents our commitment to our customers across the board. I believe it’s great evidence that we really do offer our customers total transport solutions.”
